Do Kwon and Daniel Shin launched the original Terra blockchain in January 2018. LUNA was introduced through an ICO in early 2019. ## What is the 2023 outlook for the BTCST price? 

Recent events in the US banking sector and their implications on the Fed's monetary policy could be the spark that the BTCST price needs to recover. This article sheds light on what has happened with the BTCST price so that you can find answers to these questions yourself. 

## BTCST price history at a glance 

Currently priced at $0.65, the BTCST token is attracting decent daily trading volume. For a token that was once priced at 90 USDT and had even hit a high of 92.53 USDT, the token's price may come as a wonder to many HODLers. How did this token fall so steeply within a two-year time frame?

At $0.66, the token is trading at its lowest points ever, sinking even below the April 2021 listing lows. 

## Is there a silver lining for BTCST? 

The Omicron effect has since waned. That variant did not cause severe disease among the population. What pushed the crypto market down in 2022 was the cycle of monetary policy tightening by central banks, particularly the US Federal Reserve. The stablecoin Tether (USDT) shares parity with the US dollar, so it has primarily benefited from the Fed's rate hikes to the detriment of risky assets paired with it, such as Bitcoin and BTCST. 

Inflation data for January 2023 pointed to further escalation when it was released on 14 February 2023. The data showed that the annualized consumer price index in the US beat estimates of 6.2%, rising to 6.4%. The headline number showed a print of 0.5%, beating December's figures which showed a contraction of 0.1%. Core CPI rose from 0.3% in December to 0.4% in January. 

This data, combined with the hawkish testimony of Fed Chief Jerome Powell before the US Senate Banking Committee and the House Committee on Financial Services on 7/8 March, raised the odds of the Fed moving from its previous 25 basis points [rate hike](/news/article/us-fed-crypto-rates-hike) to a 50 bps rate hike come 22 March. A further rate hike of this magnitude is expected to lead to further depression of crypto prices and gains for USD-denominated assets. This was the market view until 9/10 March, when everything changed. 

The markets woke up to the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) after a combination of liquidity issues, a fall in bond prices (to which the bank was heavily exposed), and panic-laden tweets fuelled a run on SVB that [led to the withdrawal of $42 billion](https://edition.cnn.com/2023/03/14/tech/viral-bank-run/index.html#:~:text=Customers%20withdrew%20%2442%20billion%20in,said%20in%20a%20regulatory%20filing.) in a single day. A second bank, Signature Bank, was also in trouble. The contagion has spread, leading to a collapse in banking stocks in the US, Europe, and Asia. The US dollar is broadly weak, and suddenly, the bets for a rate hike by the Fed are off. 

If the Fed fails to raise interest rates, it will be the first time in nearly 10 months that this will happen. It could dwindle interest in USD-denominated assets and lead to renewed market interest in risky assets such as cryptos. The signs are already there. USD coin (USDC), a popular USD-backed stablecoin, briefly lost its peg with the greenback and traded at 88 cents. The peg has not fully recovered on several exchanges. 

## BTCST price potential 

For a coin that had traded as high as $90, a $0.65 price is an attractive proposition. There is long-term potential for the BTCST token. The Bitcoin Standard Hashrate Token shares a mild correlation with Bitcoin. Bitcoin prices tested the 25K resistance earlier in the year but failed to break it. The crypto asset's price reached an all-time high of $0.96 on 24 November, 2021 (oh, the good old times!) and an all-time low of $0.01 on 8 February, 2019. If we analyse these numbers practically, it is clear that it is near impossible (or rather difficult) for CRO to reach double digits anytime soon. 

With a potential supply of 30 billion on the market, if the cryptocurrency were worth $10, it would indicate that its market cap is $300B. That is an astronomical 164 times more than the cryptocurrency's current market cap, and nearly 1.5 times more than Ethereum's (ETH) present market cap!

## Bloc Money: The journey so far

BLOC, the Bloc Money blockchain project token, debuted as far back as 2018 on centralized exchanges. The highest price ever recorded on the BLOC/USD pair was $0.06. This is about as good as things got for the token, as the price has steadily declined since then.

The token was able to ride the market's bullish run in 2021, but never recovered its 2018 highs as it touched off the $0.04 mark. The recent bounce of this token has enabled it to pull off from all-time lows, but its present value remains more than 95% off its listing high.

For instance, the BLOC/USD pair was last traded on the [Uniswap exchange](/news/article/uniswap-exchange-nft-aggregator) on 7 January, 2023, with a very thin volume and virtually no liquidity. On other exchanges, total trade volume was just $3.0633613, according to data from Binance. This is a far cry from its early days when it traded with reasonable liquidity.

If you had invested $1,000 into the BLOC/USD pair at its all-time lows, you probably would have doubled your money. But whether you could have pulled it out on the back of such low liquidity is another story entirely.

## So, what has gone wrong with BLOC?

•	The token's listing came when the crypto market was in general decline.

•	The crypto market continues to face downside risks from rising inflation in the US, causing the market to lean heavily on USD longs in anticipation of further interest rate hikes by the Fed.

•	Liquidity has dropped off heavily, with only a few dollars-worth of the token being transacted daily. Simply put, there is not much trading interest in the asset currently.

## Bloc coin price prediction for 2023

The crypto market’s recovery has stalled after Bitcoin hit the 25k resistance mark. With the price pulling back slightly, this has also kept any altcoin recoveries at bay. To get a reasonable definition of what the Bloc Money token may do in 2023, one has to look at some of the project's fundamentals and the charts to get a glimpse of the future price action of this token.

Bloc Money was conceptualized in 2019 as a project to popularize the use of the blockchain in an environmentally sound manner. However, the project ran into problems soon after when the initial development team left the project, necessitating the sourcing of a new team to complete the project. Perhaps the biggest issue that the Bloc Money project has had fundamentally is the lack of a use case that resonates with the market.

BLOC/USD: May 2022 to February 2023

One of the products that Bloc Money was to implement was PayChange. PayChange was conceptualized as a one-stop listing for business owners accepting cryptos as a payment method to get their business listed and found on the PayChange Map. That way, businesses would be accessible to millions of users who spend cryptos by viewing the listings close to them on the GPS-enabled PayChange map. In return, users would get cashback and other benefits for using the PayChange app to shop at these businesses.

PayChange was supposed to disrupt the advertising business, cutting out the likes of Facebook by offering a means of bringing crypto-using shoppers to the PayChange-listed businesses. This would have allowed companies to reduce their ad spend and share these savings with the customers as incentives. It is currently unclear what has happened to this product. From the look of things, it never really took off.

So we have a situation where anyone trading the BLOC/USD pair would be hard-pressed to find any intrinsic fundamentals to drive any price recovery. This leaves the BLOC coin at the mercy of the market's vagaries. Bitcoin has shown some recovery in 2023, but this has largely stalled. Altcoins depending on Bitcoin to achieve some recovery have also stalled.

Trading on the BLOC coin currently suffers from very low liquidity. For instance, in the 24 hours preceding the writing of this piece, the token only saw $12 worth of transactions, despite an uptick in its share price by close to 50%. [Recent price action on BLOC/BTC](https://tradeogre.com/exchange/BTC-BLOC) has oscillated between 0.00000002 acting as the floor and 0.00000004 functioning as the ceiling.

A steep surge in buying volume must accompany any radical upticks in the price of this crypto. Currently, this is absent. The present scenario does not favour much of a bullish BLOC coin price prediction.

This factor was what drove crypto prices lower in 2022. Following several rounds of rate hikes, the Fed has started to slow down on its tightening cycle, allowing some of this money to return to the crypto market. There is on-chain evidence to this effect, with data from Whalealert showing that a lot of whale money poured into the crypto market in February 2023.

The recent bounce in crypto prices has served Lunar well, allowing it to push off its January 2023 lows. The [much-awaited judgement in the SEC vs. Ripple lawsuit](/news/article/ripple-xrp-news-2023) could also significantly impact the crypto market and on altcoins such as Lunar in the short term.

The Dow Theory describes three trends: primary, or major, secondary, and minor. Each trend type is formed by the one below it. In other words, the minor trends comprise the secondary trends, which combine to form the primary trend.

Each major trend has three phases:

•	accumulation.

•	public participation.

•	panic/distribution.

The accumulation stage is when the institutional players acquire the token in large numbers. This is usually a quiet event and not in the public glare. In the crypto market, some websites track the movement of cryptocurrencies from the institutional/high net-worth traders, the so-called whales.

After accumulation reaches a tipping point, the asset's price will rise, triggering the public participation phase. By this time, the public has become aware of the latest "hot" token and started to buy into the upside move. Most of the time, the purchases are done to go with the flow and do not come with any prior research to guide the purchase.

Some public participants will be lucky to profit from the move, but most will not because they keep carrying their assets to the next stage.

The stage of distribution is when the major players who accumulated earlier start offloading their holdings. The attendant price reversal usually catches out many who entered the move at the public participation stage. The steep drop in price generates panic among them, and they start to sell massively, usually at a loss.

As they sell, the assets' supply keeps rising, and prices keep falling on the back of dwindling demand. Usually, the accumulators would already have sold off and are waiting in the wings for prices to become cheap once more to resume their accumulation.

Now here is a caveat: there is no single price level that is suitable for accumulation. Most institutional players do not buy all their tokens at once or at a single price point. Their portfolios are made up of purchases made at various times and also done using techniques such as [dollar-cost-averaging](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwj3ssPA_bv9AhXBhP0HHdl9A1gQFnoECBkQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.investopedia.com%2Fterms%2Fd%2Fdollarcostaveraging.asp&usg=AOvVaw2Yhbe1Jj-357NrAA5gByik) to reduce the unit cost of purchasing their tokens. So even though the price of Fantom is at 45 cents, some will buy at 50 cents and later buy at 21 cents. The most crucial point is that the accumulation occurs at a specific price range close to previous lows for the asset in question.

## Technical analysis of the FTM/USDT pair

The technical analysis of the Fantom token's pairing with the Tether stablecoin (which represents the US dollar) will look at the long-term picture of this pair. The time frame that reflects the long-term outlook is the monthly chart. However, we have shown the daily chart as it shows the key price levels better.

The price action formed a double top, indicating that the uptrend stalled in November 2021. Following this topping pattern, the price broke below the dip between the tops (neckline) and continued to drop until it formed a bottom at the $0.180452 price mark. In technical analysis, the distance between the neckline and the top is about the same as the neckline to the bottom. If you had followed this perspective and bought into the low of December 2022, you probably would have seen your capital grow by 160%.

Fantom's price hit a high of $0.658, the site of a previous high formed in May 2022. Having hit this level, the FTM/USDT pair could not continue the climb, as its correlated asset Bitcoin had hit a roadblock close to the $25,000 price mark.

It is not humanly possible, nor is it advisable, to start making specific price projections two years in advance. However, we can use previous highs and lows to derive potential support/resistance targets that lie ahead when the price starts to recover.

Here is a hint: the Omicron variant's emergence was behind the drop in crypto prices in November 2021. However, a new factor took over in mid-2022, and that was the start of the interest rate hiking cycle by the US Federal Reserve. The rise in interest rates made USD-denominated assets attractive, to the detriment of risky assets such as emerging market currencies, stocks, and cryptocurrencies. If the Fed stopped hiking interest rates, USD-denominated assets, such as the Tether stablecoin, would be unattractive and bring the appeal back to risky assets. You may use any signal by the Fed that it would slow down its rate hikes or stop them entirely as a fundamental, predictive signal that could spur the market's recovery.

There is a basis for this assessment. The Fed announced in December 2022 that it would reduce the size of its rate hikes from 75 basis points. It followed this hint by hiking interest rates by only 25 basis points. This triggered the recovery in the prices of Bitcoin and its correlated assets, such as Fantom, prompting bullish Fantom crypto price predictions for 2025. However, inflation has started to tick back upwards, which could delay a tapering of the rate hikes. The price action of cryptos in February mirrored this, which explains why we had a pullback in the price of FTM/USDT from the $0.658 price mark.

## Where does Fantom crypto price prediction 2025 point to?

Rather than focus too far ahead, traders should use what they see on the charts and in the news to decide when to enter. Fantom is one of those projects with outstanding potential for price appreciation in the long term due to its fundamentals. With a platform that keeps expanding its client base and sound fundamentals, demand for Fantom will only keep growing.

Further price appreciation will depend on the ability of the FTM/USDT pair to breach the resistance at $0.658. Upside targets in the near term would lie at $0.876 and $1.157. Any further advance would require a neckline break, with $1.646 being the next upside target. $1.978 lies ahead, as it was the site of a previous high on 1 March 2022.

You must understand that any upticks will not automatically shoot up like rockets. Instead, there will be the ebbs and falls in the wave motion of price action, as defined by the Dow Theory nearly a century ago.

If we look at the above chart, 2022 was quite a rocky year for the digital asset (the same holds true for the entire industry!). After reaching the summit of $18.08 on 4 April, the cryptocurrency slumped to $6.58 on 13 May. That said, LINK has had a great start to 2023.

The crypto asset started the year at $5.57, and at the time of writing, it is at its highest yet (this year, of course), at $8.

It is near impossible to predict the price LINK could reach in 2023. That said, the signs are positive and the market is showing signs of recovery after a horrid end to 2022 [following the SBF saga](/news/article/sam-bankman-fried-bail-co-signers-revealed).

Okay, let us do the maths. At LINK's current supply of 491M tokens, for each token to be valued at $10,000 would mean that the cryptocurrency's market cap is a crazy $491B!
Impossible? No.

Likely? Probably not.

To put it into perspective, the world's most valuable crypto asset, Bitcoin (BTC), has a market cap of just over $460B at the time of writing. LINK is ranked 23rd on the list of crypto assets with the highest market cap.

LINK is more likely to hit the three-digit mark in the future than the five or even four-digit mark. Historically speaking, LINK seems to be a sound investment, as it does not abide by usual altcoin movements, meaning it is relatively less volatile than other cryptocurrencies. That said, DYOR at all times, and hope for the best.

After a tumultuous 12 months for cryptocurrency, the news predictions for 2023 and the years ahead are mixed.
