## Research reinforces approaching volatility

"It is very unusual for BTC markets to reach such low realised volatility, with almost all prior instances preceding a highly volatile move," on-chain analytics firm Glassnode explained in the latest edition of its weekly newsletter, The Week On-Chain.

Researchers, including lead analyst Checkmate, argued that the market had reached a tipping point alongside a chart of Bitcoin's realised volatility.

Glassnode concluded that, while the fuel for a potential price breakout was present, such as BTC-denominated futures open interest reaching new all-time highs, there was "little discernible directional bias in futures markets".

According to this website, Bitcoin Motion trading bot users reported being unable to withdraw their money from a broker entitled “Coin Central Invest”, a registered business in Sophia, Bulgaria. This Bitcoin Motion scam has even gone so far as to use the names of celebrities like Elon Musk and create fake videos of him “endorsing” it.

The Chamber of Digital Commerce is an advocacy group and trade association for cryptocurrencies. On Monday, the firm published a report, [The Crypto Conundrum: Why Won’t the SEC Approve a Bitcoin ETF?](https://digitalchamber.org/crypto-conundrum/) In this report, the organisation has urged the Securities and Exchange Commission of the United States to approve the [Bitcoin ETF.](/news/article/bitcoin-etf-launches) 

The trade association argues that even though the demands for exchange-traded funds (ETF) are met, the SEC is reluctant to approve them. Earlier, the SEC also rejected the [Grayscale ETF application](https://www.coindesk.com/policy/2022/06/30/grayscale-sues-sec-over-bitcoin-etf-application-rejection/). However, the company sued the regulators, and the case is still in court. Amid this, the Chamber of Digital Commerce has made a public argument for bringing Bitcoin spot ETFs to the US.

The organisation argues that the US regulators are blocking the way for BTC spot ETFs in the country. Many companies in countries like Canada and Australia are already providing related services to their investors. On the other hand, in the US, regulators have rejected the applications of 16 companies. 

“As the SEC continues to stonewall, the United States falls further behind other countries as capital that would have been invested in the US and managed by local firms employing American citizens is instead deployed in other, more innovation-friendly countries,” the firm explained.

In the report, the organisation further claims that the companies have complied with all the demands of the [SEC](/news/tag/sec), yet their applications are rejected. Moreover, it argues that denying the applications would not help protect the investors. Instead, it will force them to go with non-regulated options.

The organisation also made some allegations against the SEC’s chair Gary Gensler. According to [CoinDesk](https://www.coindesk.com/), during the last 24 hours, Ethereum went down by 18.16% to $1,198, while BNB fell by 14.97%, Cardano by 13.57 and XRP by 11.89%. 

Also, Celsius Network, one of the biggest crypto exchanges said that “due to extreme market conditions”, it is pausing all withdrawals, Swap, and transfers between accounts. 

Even though Celsius founder Alex Mashinsky tried to tweet away the fears of the Luna crisis impacting the exchange by promising Celsius had “minimal exposure” to Luna and UST, we suspect that last month’s crash of Do Kwan’s Terra empire shook investors’ confidence within the crypto market whose market cap fell below the $1 trillion mark to 977 billion.

Edul Patel Co-Founder and CEO of crypto investment platform Mudrex,  commented the cryptocurrency market “has been under pressure from the Federal Reserve, hiking the interest rates to combat inflation over the past few months. 

“Bitcoin, Ethereum, and most cryptocurrencies suffered losses over the weekend after a broad sell-off following the data showing US inflation hitting a 40-year high,” he said.

Moreover, it encrypts the transaction amounts to improve decentralisation.

Though it also uses the Proof-of-Work (PoW) consensus mechanism, its algorithm is not the same. Instead of BTC's SHA-256 algorithm, it relies on the X13 PoW, which helps in making it compatible with various graphic user interfaces (GPUs) needed for mining. 

## Bitcoin Diamond (BCD) price

Bitcoin Diamond did not hold an initial coin offering (ICO). However, 10 BCD tokens were distributed to BTC holders for every Bitcoin. In the initial days, its price was around $60 and peaked at $104.84 on November 25, 2017.
