The OCEAN Token is used to stake on data, govern Ocean community funding, and to buy and sell data. OCEAN token is a decentralised standard ERC-20 coin. The OCEAN token supply is disbursed over time to drive near-term growth and long-term sustainability.

Ocean Protocol was founded by a team of entrepreneurs and consultants in 2017, and it is headquartered in Singapore. Ocean Protocol Foundation has received funding from Google, alongside other technology entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and academics to drive early development.
